Biography of Harriet Hubbard Ayer (1849-1903), the first woman in the US to originate and operate a cosmetic company. She was so successful that the men in her life tried to steal it by drugging her and committing her to an insane asylum. When she escaped she became the editor of the women's pages for Joseph Pulitzer's NY World.
