Finding J. Hubbard

Elizabeth Young

Twelve years after the disappearance of retired teacher Jane Hubbard, her friend, Zora Erickson, is jolted into investigating Jane's death. The principal suspect is a former stock broker, Murray Parch, who swindled Jane and other women. He was imprisoned for his financial crimes, with the judge giving him the maximum sentence because he believed Parch played a role in Jane's disappearance. Zora teams up with the retired detective who first investigated the case, and they develop a growing attraction. Early on, Zora learns that Jane had a hidden life, including a married lover. During the story, we hear the "voice" of someone who is upset by Zora's investigation. Confronted with an array of suspect, Zora finds that she herself may be in danger. She has a mysterious ally whom she doesn't know is helping her -- a seemingly simple person, Ruth Elijah, who may know the truth about Jane. But, in the end, Zora needs to work by herself and take a daring trip to solve the mystery and save her own life.
