Artist Helen Levin, MFA (CU'63) highlights her odyssey as a classroom teacher of both Art and Literacy in New York City public schools: day schools, adult evening, day adult programs, and staff development workshops-- with an emphasis on her unusual contribution in the form of art and literacy workshops for adults and kids. For example, Levin pioneered her "accelerated drawing" techniques not only for art students, but in a pilot program for those adults who struggled with visual memory, detail observation, and eye-hand coordination--- namely the new-reader adult.
