A time travel adventure in which a physics experiment gone wrong sends 400 people back to 1770, where they interact with such luminaries as Washington, Franklin, Mozart, and the Bey of Algiers. The book follows the ensuing changes to history through the first lunar landing in 1926, at a time when two Columbia professors (a married couple, one teaching music, the other history) figure prominently.
