A War of Logistics: Parachutes and Porters in Indochina, 1945-1954

Charles Shrader

A War of Logistics provides and in-depth assessment of the often-ignored but critically important topic of French and Viet Minh logistical organization and operations in the First Indochina War, 1945-1954. The author also covers the support provided to the two sides by other countries, notably the United States and Communist China. The central thesis of the book is that although the Viet Minh had few advantages over the French, they brilliantly employed a network of military and civilian support outfitted to overcome the challenging physical environment in which the war was fought.
