Frequently Asked Questions - Alumni Community

Alumni FAQs

You can access the Community by entering your UNI and Password credentials in the alumni login page.

You will need your UNI and password to log in to the community and other resources exclusive to Columbia alumni. To find or reset your UNI and password, visit tools.alumni.columbia.edu/uni/

The Community is much more than just a searchable list of alumni. It is place to share news, ideas, browse content and connect with alumni across the world.

Now, we have made it even easier to search for alumni as well as search across groups and topic - simply search the directory using the search bar at the top of your screen.

There are a number of ways you can search by typing directly into the search bar and clicking/pressing the search icon. Examples include:

  • Name

  • Industry

  • School and graduation year

  • Job title

  • Interest

  • And more!

We recommend starting your search broadly using the search bar, and narrowing down using the handy filters which include

  • Columbia Degrees

  • Country, State, City, Provence

  • Organization

  • Industry

  • Title

  • Posted By

We highly recommend filling out the ‘About Me’ section of your profile because all this content is searchable and can improve your search rankings within the community - increasing your chances of making great connections.

First, make sure you have the right spelling and that there are no filters set. Still no luck? There are a few reasons why an alum may not show up:

  • Some may have opted out of appearing on the Online Alumni Community

  • Some may have a special status assigned to their account which makes them unsearchable

  • Only eligible alumni will have access to and feature in the Community. For further information, please visit our Eligibility page

Eligible Columbia University alumni and students are able to search for alumni through the directory within the Community. Only alumni appear in search results; students are not searchable in the Community.

This can be managed in the ‘Edit Profile and Preferences' section in the Community. Login and visit this section here

First, congratulations!

Post-graduation, you may experience a period when you will not have full alumni access to the Online Alumni Community (Up to 90 days).  It can take time for us to receive required student data to upgrade to your alumni record. When complete, you will have access to all the advanced features that are only available to you as an alum. Don’t forget to update your profile with your latest information and introduce yourself in discussion groups.

We look forward to welcoming you back into the Community as an alum soon!
