Dear Fellow Alumni,

We are so grateful for your participation in this year’s Leaders Experience on September 27-28. As we gathered amidst the chaos and uncertainty in the world, one thing became clear: the importance of community, belonging, and coming together. This year’s theme was more timely than ever, reminding us that leadership isn’t just about taking care of business—it’s about taking care of each other.

The conference opened with a powerful keynote on climate and sustainability, featuring Karenna Gore ’00LAW, Dan Zarrilli, and Lucy August-Perna ’22SPS, moderated by Dean Duy Linh Tu ’99JRN. Our esteemed panel explored how we can tackle climate issues through multidisciplinary and sometimes unconventional approaches, and how each of us can mobilize our communities to drive meaningful change.

We were also deeply moved by the breakfast keynote with award-winning journalist Suzanne Malveaux ’91JRN and former United States Attorney General Eric Holder ’73CC, ’76LAW. Their discussion covered topics ranging from the upcoming election and global democracy to the critical importance of civil discourse and the role each individual plays in shaping the future.

We were honored to have Interim President Katrina Armstrong join us, in conversation with Trustees Co-chair David Greenwald ’83LAW. President Armstrong’s insights on leadership, resilience, and community were invaluable, adding depth to the discussions that shaped this year’s event. The board of trustees also joined us, further enriching the experience for everyone.

We couldn’t have done this without you. Your presence and active engagement reaffirm how much you value Columbia, the alumni community, and the powerful connections we share. By showing up, you demonstrated your commitment to building a stronger, more supportive network, even in these challenging times.

The connections we made and the insights we gained would not have been possible without your involvement. Together, we are fostering a community that will continue to support and uplift one another, both now and in the future.

Thank you for your continued dedication to Columbia and to each other.

With profound gratitude,

Nicole & Carlos
